Media & Tech: I Sure Do Love Blogging

Today I’m talking about blogging. I am a “blogger.” Some might call me the blog-creature. This might be my last blog, but I will go out with an absolute BANG. It’s blogging time. Let’s review what we’ve done so far.

William Shakespeare ME writing the Minecraft blog in 2015

As an avid blogger and knowledgeable Minecraft enthusiast, I have written many, many words. At least, like, 200 per blog post as of late. I wonder what the deal with that specific number is. I’m sure it’s not part of any sort of requirement or anything. In fact, today I — of my complete own volition — plan to write some 300 words reflecting on my time as a Bloggmonster. This will be broken into a few parts. Let us begin:

1. I think I might enjoy writing blogs???
After we started the blogging section, I’ve realized just how fun it can be to write about something entirely random, to no one in particular. Writing without the MLA format is quite an experience, honestly. Very freeing. I will say I’ve always enjoyed writing — the initial title for this section was “I think I might enjoy writing,” but I qualified it because it implied that there was ever a time when I simply didn’t think I enjoyed writing whatsoever. Enjoying blog writing surprised me thoroughly, though. I mean, it’s a blog!! It just seemed to have some indescribable stigma to me that I can’t really place on any one aspect of blogging. I just felt it wasn’t anywhere near something I would find myself naturally doing. Granted, it still isn’t: I’m writing this right now because of an assignment titled “Blogging Reflection.” I am not reflecting as a natural result of wanting to write about my reflection. Still, I’m enjoying the assignment more than I thought I would. Dare I go to the next wall of text? Yes, I think I will.

2. I like having a website.
This one will be brief — mainly because it isn’t anything particularly new — but I believe it is quite nice and freeing to have a custom space within which you are the sole, absolute controller of all. I get to be Big Brother: Everything is here because I want it to be. It’s my own Big-Brother-ized CNN; my own Big-Brother-ized Fox; my own Big-Brother-ized New York Times… I’m out of news outlets; I don’t really want to write any more down. In any case, it’s nice to know that everything here is to some degree a reflection of me — https://masonmacarthur.com is a mirror within which anyone can see me! That’s fairly cool, I guess.

3. I might keep using the website for blogs?
I have always been using my website for anything OTHER than the homepage: Visit this link to see one of the earliest projects my Dad and I made. I mean, he did all the work on this one: I believe the extent of my contribution was saying “Hey, intergalactic mucows from outer space are definitely interesting enough to have their own game; Wouldn’t that be neat?” One of the earliest projects I actually made myself was this. But, in any case, I think blogs are neat. It might be a good opportunity to share whatever projects I work on with the uncaring void that is my audience.

Alright, that’s all (I hit my word count a while ago). If any of you would like to say anything, please leave a comment. Feel free to leave a comment. If you want to leave a comment, you can. Commenting is for the STRONG. Please comment if you want to. Please comment. You can comment if you want to.
